Our Bases
Escape Aviation is spread out across the Central Plateau now operating from 3 main bases. Escape aviation’s home is at Taupo Airport. Helisika and our original home base is on Poronui Station 500m from the world famous Poronui fly fishing lodge. Our most recent addition is Kaimanawa Alpine Adventures based 30 minutes South of Turangi on SH1 on the doorstep of the World Heritage Site the Tongariro National Park.
Taupo Airport
Escape Aviation is based at Taupo airport. This is where our H130 is hangered and the majority of our charter work and local scenic flights take place.
Helisika Poronui
Helisika Poronui is our original home base. We have operated out of the Poronui Valley for the past 30 years. This base is a 35 minute drive from Taupo along SH5 towards Napier. Most of our commercial work hunting and fly fishing flights are based out of Poronui.
Kaimanawa alpine adventures
Kaimanawa Alpine Adventures base is our most recent addition. 20 minutes drive South of Turangi on State Highway 1, we are perched on the doorstep of the Tongariro National Park and world heritage site. Heli Bike and Hiking, remote glamping and sightseeing over the Heritage park are most common from this base.
